About Me
Hello!
I'm Sam, a multi-instrumentalist and producer currently based in Brighton. I write, arrange, record and mix music for my own band, Flavours, as well as other local musicians who want to be heard!
Throughout my 5 years in Brighton, I have engineered sessions in some of the city's top studios (South Lanes Studios, Brighton Electric) and have had the opportunity to travel and record with my band in other great locations across England (Abbey Road, Ford Lane). I recently completed a Masters' Degree in Music Production, after studying Music Performance and Production at undergrad level.
I have worked on sessions from a variety of genres including Rock, Metal, Pop, Folk and Indie, and my passion lies with recording musicians and helping them achieve their musical vision. Being involved in local grassroots band scenes has led me to spend most of my studio time recording bands, working through arrangements and collaborating creatively, as well as developing countless techniques to help musicians feel and sound their best in the studio!

November 2024 - september 2025
Throughout my studies for my masters, I spent a lot of time engineering sessions for bands in South Lanes Studios in Brighton. While my previous experience was in more of an assistant engineer role, I ran the sessions at South Lanes and mixed songs for bands afterwards.
Brighton electric
assistant engineering
Between 2022 - 2024, I assistant engineered on a variety of sessions at Brighton Electric. Studio 1 has a NEVE 5316 console which has been loved by local producers for decades - this is the desk which I first got hands-on practice with in a studio. I got work here with George Donoghue, who produces modern metal and punk music. I also worked here with a handful of local bands and artists I had met at uni.
The sessions at Brighton Electric taught me a lot about comping drums, and gave me my first experience using Pro Tools in a fast-paced recording setting.
Other sessions
with flavours
While playing with Flavours, I've had the opportunity to be hands-on during the recording of some great sessions in high-end studios, before mixing the songs at home.
Other than the sessions at South Lanes and Brighton Elecrtic, The band recorded at Ford Lane Studios in Arundel, where I made creative engineering choices of mics, outboard gear and arrangements, in order to better achieve our vision.
We also went to the George Martin Studio at LIPA university to record our first single, 'Coloured Image'. This was my first venture into mixing for a song which was going to be released, which I collaborated with Ben Archibald on.
Most recently, we went to Abbey Road Studios to record a live acoustic version of our latest track, 'Alibi'. We were invited by our friend and long term collaborator, Toby Winson, who engineered the session.
Other sessions
continued
While living in Brighton, I have met loads of folk & acoustic singer songwriters who I have recorded at home. While this isn't quite as in-depth as studio sessions, recording and mixing at home has taught me a big deal about collaboratively working, and making tracks sound good with whatever equipment you have.
My first venture into assistant engineering was in 2020, working with producer Max Marlow (Declan McKenna). We converted a farmhouse into a control and live room in order to record songs for artist Tabi Gervis' debut EP, 'Just The Little Things,' as well as recorded tracks for Max's solo project.
